The following was a poem written by Laura Jo, the Purser on the Fantome who
took the passengers off on that last day.

When at night I close my eyes – I remember sad good-byes
I still taste the salty air , as I walk the decks of Fantome

I long to hear the familiar shout of Eon telling Cathie and I
“to get out” I remember his pride in the best galley aboard
as I walk the decks of Fantome

I remember the nights spent with the guys - the thought
Bring rivers into my eyes. Brusch, Morris, Slow G. and Carl
Do they still walk the decks of Fantome?

Sheldon’s voice was very well known, Colin and Chucky brought on
A certain tone, Jerry would hit the hardest key,
You can hear them on the decks of Fantome

Chrispin and Bobby were partners in crime - Cyrus with is
“better known as” at storytime. PP with his magical words.
They’re all found on the decks of Fantome

There’s Jallim and Fender, Constantine and Dave - all with their
Humor anyone would crave. Django was a true original in time,
Oh to see them on the decks of Fantome

Frances and Blinky - extraordinary men - Kevin with his hugs and
Moves of O’Ryan. Pelican and Stone with huge ears of gold.
Are they missing me on the Fantome?

Spice with his smile, Roberts with his laugh, Rhon’s
Baby face- all real girl traps, Anabal, and Rolando I didn’t know well
Would they know me when I return to Fantome?

Guyan (my skip) - how I loved my brother to be. Pope I’m so glad
I told him what he meant to me. All these guys hold my heart in their hands.
Will they return it when I return home to Fantome

When I wake and open my eyes - They’re still there with those sad good-byes.
I’ll always taste the salty air ‘Cuz when I walk, I walk the decks of Fantome

To my 30 brothers and Pope, I love you still and always.
